RISExSHINE was founded by two retired professional athletes and coaches, Jay DeMerit and Neil Stevenson-Moore. They saw young players increasingly distracted and depressed by their online lives, describing existing social platforms as "junk food laced with rat poison." After their vision was supported in a meeting with executives at EA, RISExSHINE was born.
RISExSHINE is a tech platform designed to improve mental well-being by inspiring action, unlocking potential, and igniting connection. Every interaction connects members with an evolving digital ‘brain’ that shows their growth via the Ten Forms of Human Intelligence. It is a healthier, more fulfilling alternative—the 'Chipotle' of social platforms.
Because the need for a genuine, uplifting online community has never been greater. Today's platforms often use algorithms that reward sensationalist content and thrive on anxiety. This is made worse as AI-generated content floods the internet. We are launching RISExSHINE as the purpose-built, improved alternative that celebrates "Authentic Intelligence" over artificial content.
We are launching with soccer as our core vertical, which is a natural fit given co-founder Jay DeMerit’s background playing for the USMNT. However, our mission is much broader. We will be quickly adding lifestyle verticals like music and fashion, alongside other sports. Our long-term vision is for RISExSHINE to be a home for communities from all interests and topics, built on a shared value of authentic achievement.
We believe in recognizing and celebrating effort. We are developing a set of "reward pyramids" for challenges and achievements. Everyone who participates will earn something. At the top, there are "fantasy prizes" like a VIP, behind-the-scenes experience. The middle tier includes rewards like video calls with mentors and signed memorabilia, while the base includes highly scalable rewards like partner discount codes and digital certifications.

Our platform policy is NO AI-GENERATED CONTENT. We believe that much of today's AI content lacks the soul of human experience, giving a false impression of what is possible. Our mission is to celebrate authentic human creativity and effort. To enforce this, we have built systems to promote human-generated content; for example, members can only upload content that is recorded in-app, preventing uploads of AI-generated files from a camera roll.
Charging a membership fee allows us to raise the quality of the entire experience. Our business model ensures that our members are our customers, not our product. This means we will never sell your data or use manipulative algorithms to sell your attention to advertisers. Instead, we can focus on seeding the platform with high-quality content from world-class mentors and partners, creating a premium, safe, and inspiring environment that ad-based platforms cannot replicate.
